Launch checklist: AfterAir 0.1.0 beta
A short checklist for an operator before selling a first show-notes pack. Tick each box honestly; unticked boxes are reasons to wait.
Check the kit works on your machine
- [ ]
node --test source/test.mjspasses on a clean extract of the ZIP (Node 20 verified; Node 18+ is not verified) - [ ]
OPEN-ME-AfterAir.htmlopens from your disk with no internet, loads the sample and builds four outputs - [ ] Try your own episode: SSN-like and card-like text is rejected with the field named; chapter lines the tool cannot read are listed, not guessed; with no times,
chapter-markers.txtshows[TIME NEEDED]and no times - [ ] The downloaded files contain no tool branding (unless you ticked the credit box)
Before you contact a host
- [ ] You have chosen your own studio name and searched the web for conflicts. Do not sell under "AfterAir", and pick a name clearly different from episodepack.com
- [ ] You read
BUSINESS-PLAN.mdandECONOMICS.mdand know the cheaper alternatives (a $36 human writer, free AI tools, host add-ons) and can say what you do differently - [ ] You know your own hourly rate and the price at which you break even (
ECONOMICS.md) - [ ] Your outreach follows the rules of the channel and, for email, CAN-SPAM basics (real sender, postal address if sending as a business, an easy opt-out). This is general guidance, not legal advice
Before the first pilot episode
- [ ] The host has agreed in writing that you may paste their transcript into an LLM, if you will (
AI-OPERATOR.md), or you will work without one - [ ] You told the host that free tools exist
- [ ] You have a timer or a sheet to record your real minutes for every step (
PILOT.md) - [ ] You will spot-check each quote and chapter time against the audio before delivery (the economics model allows 35 minutes for this, not a full re-listen)
Before you charge anyone
- [ ] At least two of three pilot hosts accepted the pack without major rework
- [ ] Your real minutes are within 50% of the model for your case
- [ ] The three free pilot episodes passed. Pass line: at least one host says, after hearing the free and cheaper alternatives, that they would pay at least $84 per episode, preferably $99+, for a pack made from a transcript with real time codes (at least $134, preferably $149+, without real time codes); $79 is not a pass. Caveat: $84 breaks even only if the 5% outreach-conversion assumption holds; at 2% conversion the with-time-codes break-even is about $115.
- [ ] You have a simple written scope (a template is in
PILOT.md): what you deliver, how fast, how many revisions, and what you decline (medical advice, guaranteed rankings) - [ ] You know how you will take payment and report income where you live. BotMyBiz does not take payment for this kit
