Research: LessonBrief 0.1.0 beta
Brand: LessonBrief — post-session parent brief for independent US tutors. Status: free beta 0.1.0 catalog-published. Beta · demand unproven. $1 checkout stays off.
End customer
An independent US tutor (or small tutoring studio) who runs 5–30 paid sessions a week and needs a fast, consistent parent update without opening a school SIS or CRM. Demo runs in the browser with no account.
Demand evidence (public, checked 2026-10-02)
- Tutors routinely send post-session parent updates; free printable “session note” templates and Google Doc packs are marketed to private tutors (common on Etsy / Teachers Pay Teachers style marketplaces — session note + homework checklist bundles).
- Paid tutoring CRMs (TutorCruncher, TeachWorks, Brightwheel-adjacent tools) bundle session notes with billing and scheduling — overkill for a solo tutor who only needs the write-up.
- Parent communication is a retention lever: missed homework clarity and “what we covered” notes reduce churn in private tutoring (qualitative operator guides; not a survey).
Existing alternatives (checked 2026-10-02)
- Google Docs / Notion templates — free, but unstructured; no privacy guardrails; easy to paste sensitive medical/IEP detail by accident.
- TutorCruncher / TeachWorks — paid CRMs with session notes; require accounts and monthly fees; heavier than a one-page brief.
- School SIS parent portals — not available to independent tutors; out of scope.
Wedge
Browser-local session → printable parent brief + homework checklist in one click, with an explicit privacy floor (no SSN, no medical/IEP fields, first-name only, not an official grade record). Templates give blank paper; LessonBrief gives a structured output a parent can act on tonight.
Kill test
Do tutors generate more than one brief and download the homework checklist? If visitors only load the sample and bounce, the wedge is wrong.
Largest uncertainty
Whether independent tutors will use a BotMyBiz-hosted lab demo vs. continuing with Docs templates. Demand UNKNOWN until demo usage is observed.
