First ten customers: LessonBrief 0.1.0 beta
Status: Beta · demand unproven. First name only. Not a report card. Nothing is uploaded.
Target: independent US tutors (5–30 paid sessions/week) who already send some form of parent update. Not school districts, not SIS buyers — those are out of scope. The tutor is still writing notes in Docs or text threads.
Outreach for the kit buyer: individual, relevant, truthful, brand-only, non-spam, no bulk, clear opt-out. One honest message beats fifty clever ones.
Channel 1 — Tutor Facebook groups / Discords (highest volume)
Groups like "Private tutors [city/state]", "Online tutors community", subject tutoring Discords. Don't pitch on day one: answer two parent-communication questions helpfully, then offer the pilot:
"I built LessonBrief, a free beta that turns a session into a parent brief,
homework checklist, and a three-line parent reply card. First name only —
not a report card. Nothing uploaded. Looking for 3 tutors to try it free
this month for honest feedback. DM if your parent updates still live in
Docs or text threads."
Channel 2 — Homeschool co-ops and learning pods
Co-op organizers hear "what did you cover?" every week. Ask (don't pitch) whether tutors have a consistent parent note. Offer the free pilot as something the organizer can pass along.
Channel 3 — Referral circles (tutors referring tutors)
Ask each pilot for one referral. Tutors trust tutors more than cold outreach.
Channel 4 — TpT / Etsy session-note buyers
Sellers of printable session-note packs already attract tutors who care about parent updates. Angle: "the pack is the blank paper; this fills the brief from one form, free for the first three tutors."
Channel 5 — Your first three, free
The first 3 tutors are free pilots (see START-HERE.md step 5 and PILOT.md). Their payment: honest feedback and one referral each. Convert to $49 setup only after the pilot week, only if they'd genuinely pay.
Outreach script (email / DM)
Subject: Free parent-brief pilot for independent tutors
Hi {name} — I noticed {specific detail about their tutoring / parent updates}.
LessonBrief is a free beta: session notes → parent brief + homework checklist
+ reply card, first name only, nothing uploaded. Not a CRM and not a report
card. I'm running three free pilots this month and would value honest
feedback. Want the demo link?

Opt out: reply "stop" and I won't follow up.
What success looks like (first ten)
- 3 pilots build ≥5 briefs in a week without hand-holding.
- At least 2 say the reply card changed a next-session plan.
- At least 1 paid $49 setup or a clear written "I would pay $49 if…"
Anything less: re-scope before claiming demand.
