AI operator: LessonBrief 0.1.0 beta

Status: Beta · demand unproven. First name only. Not a report card. Nothing is uploaded.

This is the operator's manual for running LessonBrief as a service for tutors. It covers the field list, the privacy floor, the session workflow, the tested paths, copy/paste assist prompts, and what never goes in a brief. Read it before onboarding a real tutor.

1. The session, field by field

Per session (required unless noted):

Blocked / rejected if present as payload object keys: ssn, socialSecurity, iep, diagnosis, medication, medical, officialGrade, reportCard, transcript. Free-text fields also reject ###-##-#### SSN patterns. Pasting the word "IEP" into a topic line is not auto-blocked (soften claims to match). See privacyScan() in source/core.mjs.

2. Outputs

buildLessonBrief() returns:

Every output states it is not an official school record.

3. Privacy floor (non-negotiable)

  1. First name only on every surface.
  2. No grades-as-official, report cards, transcripts, SSN, or medical/IEP detail fields.
  3. If a tutor pastes an SSN pattern (or blocked keys on the payload), refuse the build and ask them to remove it.
  4. Nothing is uploaded; the operator does not store student data in a CRM to fulfill this kit.

4. The weekly workflow (the $15/mo experiment's core)

  1. After each session (or from the tutor's rough notes), enter the fields.
  2. Check issues first — required fields and privacy blocks.
  3. Download the three text files and send them to the parent the tutor names (the tutor owns the parent relationship; the operator does not cold-email parents).
  4. Optionally collect the filled reply card before the next session and feed one question into nextFocus.
  5. Log per tutor per week: briefs built, time spent, privacy refusals, whether parents returned the reply card.

5. Copy/paste operator prompts (human assist — not automation)

Use these when a tutor sends rough notes and you (or a helper) turn them into a brief. They are prompts for a human operator, not a scheduler or CRM integration.

5a. Turn rough notes into the ten fields

You are helping an independent US tutor prepare a LessonBrief session form.
Input: the tutor's rough notes below.
Output: exactly these fields, one per line, ready to paste into LessonBrief:
Tutor name / Student first name only / Subject / Session date (YYYY-MM-DD) /
Duration (minutes) / Topics (one per line) / Wins / Things to watch /
Homework (one per line) / Next session focus.
Rules: first name only; no surnames, SSN, grades-as-official, medical, or IEP detail.
If notes include blocked content, list what to remove instead of inventing a brief.

5b. Weekly assist check-in (optional $15/mo experiment)

Weekly LessonBrief assist for tutor {TUTOR_NAME}.
From this week's session notes, draft one LessonBrief field set per session,
flag any privacy concerns, and list which parents still need the three files
delivered. Do not email parents. Do not invent demand or revenue.

6. Schedule / integrations / durable state

Honest answer for this beta: none.

If a future version adds any of the above, update this section and the tests before claiming it.

7. Tested path

node --test source/test.mjs (also wired into the project folder npm test) covers: sample build, missing required fields, SSN pattern rejection, medical field block, empty homework, reply card with empty homework.

There is no package.json under source/. Do not run cd source && npm test.

8. What this kit does NOT do

Does not grade. Does not bill. Does not schedule. Does not sync to a school SIS. Does not store longitudinal student records. Does not give medical, psychological, or special-education advice. Does not auto-email parents.
